At a star-studded UK Americana Awards Show last night we were thrilled to watch as both Ben Glover and Mary Gauthier won awards. Ben Glover won the award for UK Album of the Year for Shorebound whilst Mary Gauthier won the International Artist of the Year category.
Following a stunning performance of Kindness, Ben Glover accepted his award from last years winner Robert Vincent who co-wrote and features on one of the tracks on Shorebound.
“I am absolutely honoured and grateful for the award! Shorebound was a very special album for me as it was a collaboration with my closest musical friends from both sides of the Atlantic. Huge thanks to the Americana Music Association UK for this, it is without a doubt one of the proudest moments of my career.” – Ben Glover
Mary Gauthier’s International Artist of the Year award was presented to her by country music singer-songwriter Ashley Monroe after Mary had performed the song Soldering On from her latest album Rifles & Rosary Beads.
“It is an honour to have been voted International Artist of the Year by the UK Americana Music Association. I’ve been coming over here for twenty five years now, and to have reached a place where this award was possible is quite the moment to reflect on HOW it came to be. So many people play a part in any artists career, and the help I’ve been given along the way is impossible to measure. Proper Records has been my partner the entire time, and I am forever grateful to be in the Proper family. What a great group of music loving folks!” – Mary Gauthier
Both Ben and Mary’s latest albums were produced by Neilson Hubbard, whose own album Cumberland Island was released on Proper Records in September last year.
