The UK’s Official Charts Company recently published a list of the Top 10 best-selling Country albums released in 2015 in the UK and we’re delighted to see Gretchen Peters at number 8 in the list with her album Blackbirds.
Commenting about the news on her Facebook page, Peters said “SO proud to see my label, Scarlet Letter Records and Proper Records up there with the big boys. Blackbirds is a 100% independent album, and it’s rare to see one of those on a list like this. So proud of our team!”
Co-produced with Doug Lancio and Barry Walsh and recorded in Nashville, Blackbirds features a who’s who of modern American roots music: Jerry Douglas, Jason Isbell, Jimmy LaFave, Will Kimbrough, Kim Richey, Suzy Bogguss and more. On it’s release, Blackbirds was described by Folk Radio as “a brilliantly crafted record, hugely enjoyable” and also won the International Album of the Year prize at the AMA UK Awards recently where the title track also won International Song of the Year.
