Loudon Wainwright IIIIt’s been announced that Loudon Wainwright III will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at this years BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. Now in it’s 16th year, the awards will take place on Wednesday 22 April at the Millennium Centre in Cardiff where Loudon will also perform on the night. Wainwright III’s most recent album ‘Haven’t Got The Blues (Yet)’, follows his acclaimed ‘Older Than My Old Man Now’ album from 2012 – “my death n’ decay opus,” as Wainwright says. In HGTB(Y) he broadens his scope with a 14-song, genre-bounding set – “eclectricity,” he calls it – dealing with varied subject matter including depression, drinking, senior citizenship, gun control, heartbreak, pet ownership and New York City’s arcane practice of alternate side-of-the-street parking.
